Environment Working Group
Our aim is to engage people - in enhancing, protecting and making sustainable use of the environment in and around Lampeter. We want to support our community in feeling more connected to the local environment, in preparing for a life without cheap energy and to do all we can to help alleviate climate change by reducing our carbon footprint.
As with other Transition Towns we look towards making information available, on a wider scale, on the importance of cherishing and sourcing sustainable supplies from what is around us.
Examples of what we are doing in these early stages include :
Other projects that have been identified by the group are dealing with food waste from local restaurants, making use of waste cooking oils, promoting and producing a green/wildlife map of Lampeter and promoting Community Gardens and orchards. We also support schemes such as the Organic Gardening group within the university and the Teifi Rivers Trust. We have links with The Shared Earth Trust at Denmark Farm and Longwood Community Wood.
We would welcome you to the group if you have any ideas, an interest in an existing project or a project of your own you have in mind and would like to start. The only essential thing is an inclination to contribute towards Lampeter's future.
