Events Working Group
This group plans to work in close liaison with the Heart and Soul Group.
We will put on Transition Llambed events, in Lampeter or the surrounding villages. Together we aim to create new spaces and ways of working with each other.
Events will be :
- social, to build, strengthen and celebrate our sense of community;
- educational, to raise awareness about climate change and peak oil, and about Transition culture and initiatives;
- a forum for people to bring their hopes and concerns about the future - looking at the 'The Psychology of Change';
- arts-based, to provide a space for people creating Transition culture, to convey new ideas, and record our process of transition;
- an opportunity to explore new ways of being, and harness the power of positive visions.
Ideas so far include :
- regular film screenings with Open Space discussions afterwards;
- arts evenings - live music, poetry, and other art forms;
- social events - themed or related to specific festivals.
The group would be committed to holding events that are :
- widely advertised bi-lingually throughout the local community. We would like to hold Welsh-speaking events as well as English-based ones;
- accessible for disabled people;
- free, or very cheap, to attend;
- low-carbon!
